vitrifiedstudio is looking for a production assistant. please read the description below and apply at firstname.lastname@example.org. if you have applied in previous years, you are encouraged to apply again for this new opening, but please read the new qualifications listed below.
I am currently looking for a production assistant to help with one-two specific large orders. I am ideally looking for someone to work the month of December- January or February. I don't know how many hours a week yet, but I would imagine maybe 20 hours a week for a total of 80-120 hours.
I am looking for someone with expert skills in throwing, glazing, loading and firing the electric kiln, and packing and shipping. I will have minimal time to train, so I need skilled person who can throw and work quickly alongside me with minimal supervision. The order is a large one, so please be prepared for long hours of throwing in succession. The hours can be flexible, but I prefer anytime 8am-5pm during the week.
This position is a paid position, or we can do a work exchange for use of the studio. I cannot share the studio with a production potter, but I am happy to share the space with someone looking to spend more time at the pottery wheel and explore their own ceramic study in exchange for help in the studio.
The studio is located in NE Portland near Alberta Park (Oregon) and I am looking for someone that lives nearby- to avoid the commute. I need someone who is okay coming over for a few hours if necessary and does not have a long commute.
Please submit via email a resume and photo samples of your thrown functional ware work. I will need to see you throw, to see how quickly and perfectly you can make pieces, so be prepared for a throwing session during the interview.
thanks so much! shelley
